Marriage is just plain fun. We go to church picnics together and eat Ben and Jerry’s ice cream at 9 p.m. on a Sunday because we want to. We stay in reading on a weekend. I cook, he dries the dishes. He gets gas, I buy groceries. We break bread together—every night at dinner, and every Sunday at the communion rail. We pray and struggle and think and wonder.
Travis always told me that he thinks that discerning marriage ought to result in marriage when two people share the same burdens. I love daily discovering more and more of our shared burdens. Whether they are the burdens we brought with us into this marriage, or the burdens that are slowly growing in us together, it is an honor and a blessing to share burdens, hopes, and cares with this man.
